If you’re an electrical engineer or contractor, you know it can be challenging to create accurate estimates in cabling projects. In addition, it can be difficult to weigh the total costs of one material versus another. That’s why Champion Fiberglass created two powerful tools to help. Let’s take a look.

The Champion Fiberglass Conduit Calculator

This Conduit Calculator is another powerful tool available on the Champion Fiberglass website. The Conduit Calculator allows users to quickly run budgetary numbers using the NECA MLU data to evaluate the total labor and materials cost savings of fiberglass (RTRC) when compared with other rigid conduit materials. This powerful tool can calculate labor installation costs, as well as the total costs of materials plus labor. Users can compare Champion Fiberglass conduit with four rigid conduit materials, and can even have the results emailed to them for reference. Download our conduit calculator flyer with easy instructions. In addition, a representative can help you with a more exact quote based on your specific situation and needs.

The NECA Manual of Labor Units Quick Reference

Champion Fiberglass provides a 2017-2018 Edition of the NECA Manual of Labor Units (MLU) quick reference download, which shows up-to-date figures for conduits and elbows in a number of different materials, including epoxy fiberglass. This one-page PDF document allows electrical contractors to create more accurate estimates for their next cabling project so they can quantify the cost savings when specifying Champion Fiberglass.

As the National Electrical Contractor Association (NECA) puts it, “An estimate is only as good as the information it is based on.” The 2017-2018 Edition of the NECA MLU has been reorganized so that labor units correspond with the Construction Specification Institute MasterFormat®, 2016 Edition. NECA’s updated data once again reinforces the positive project economics around fiberglass conduit (RTRC).

The Champion Fiberglass Epoxy Adhesive Calculator

You may also find our epoxy adhesive calculator useful. Simply input conduit size, lengths, total feet to install, number of sockets and adhesive size. The tool will calculate the number of conduit joints and the number of adhesive cartridges your project will require.

The Benefits of Fiberglass Conduit Really Add Up

With the use of these helpful tools, the benefits of fiberglass conduit become clear. First of all, fiberglass conduit is rigid and durable without placing a structural weight burden on support structures. And because the material is lighter than the alternatives, it is easier and less expensive to handle and transport, and requires fewer workers to install. Finally, Champion fiberglass conduit is available in 20-foot straight conduit lengths, while most competing products are only available in 10-foot lengths. The reduced cutting and assembly costs result in 10% less labor.
