HOUSTON (November 12, 2025) – Champion FiberglassⓇ is excited to share that the new Expandable Utility Riser™ is a 2025 NECA Showstopper Award Winner.
The National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) Convention and Trade Show highlights the newest products and services for electrical contractors and features an annual Showstopper Showcase, sponsored by ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR Magazine. The Showcase features over 200 entries representing the latest solutions on the market. The Champion Fiberglass Expandable Utility RiserTM (XUR) was one of 25 Showstopper winners selected from a panel of expert judges.
The new XUR solution is an expandable riser requiring no cutting or gluing, easing the installation of ground level electrical cable to panel and meter boxes. Like other Champion Fiberglass products, Champion XUR is lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and offers a low coefficient of friction during installation. It also withstands extreme temperature changes, protecting against expansion and contraction to ensure a safe installation environment.
For electrical contractors and engineers, XUR offers the following benefits:
- Height adjustable
- Operable in temperatures of -40 degrees to +230 °F
- Allows for expansion and contraction due to temperature, ground settling, and ground freeze/thaw cycles
- Impact resistant
- UV resistant
- Can be made & shipped with customer specific transitions (PVC couplers, PVC stubs, fiberglass, or PVC male adapter/female adapters, etc.)
- Champion’s proven track record of on-time product delivery and responsiveness
XUR is UL 2515 listed for above ground use. It is listed in Article 12-200 of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) as Rigid RTRC Conduit and in the National Electrical Code (NEC) in Article 355 as Reinforced Thermosetting Resin Conduit.
XUR is manufactured in the Champion Fiberglass 100% digital manufacturing facility that is triple ISO certified 9001, 14001, and 45001.
