In the utilities sector, successful partnerships are crucial for transformation and growth. The Champion Fiberglass®-StruXur collaboration exemplifies this synergy, driving success across the Midwest and beyond with innovative solutions.
Founded in 1991 as Utility Sales Associates, StruXur is a power and utility rep that supplements the existing C&I representation. Their primary product focus is on access and connectivity products, testing and monitoring equipment, infrastructure, productivity and safety for outside plant products. Customers include municipalities, rural electric co-ops, investor-owned utilities, CATV, Tier 1 & Tier 2 customers along with independent telecoms and the contractors and engineers who work with them.
StruXur was acquired by Forward Solutions in 2022 and then expanded by incorporating Upper Midwest Utility Sales. It now operates across an extensive Midwest region, Including markets in Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. President Al Stearns leads the organization with Vice President Rob Madigan, Shawn Offenbacher as Executive VP of Sales and Nicole Styx serving as Director of Sales and Operations.
StruXur acquired UMUS gaining a veteran manufacturer’s representative company that has worked with Champion Fiberglass for over 27 years.
StruXur has been instrumental in securing major bridge projects across the Missouri River with Champion Fiberglass. In addition, the team worked together on the Souris River Bridge project for a telecommunications cooperative in North Dakota where an above-ground bridge installation provided a cost-effective alternative to boring.
StruXur has also succeeded in specifying elbows at municipal utilities and electric co-ops across Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin. There has also been increased interest from Illinois power/utility distributors in stocking Champion Fiberglass products.
After a recent Champion Fiberglass product training in Michigan, the StruXur team is excited about the opportunity that lies ahead.
Says Scott Patchan, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Champion Fiberglass, “We’re excited to work with Matt Hannafin, Al and Nicole in the Midwest. Matt’s long history as a rep for Champion Fiberglass enhances and fortifies the partnership with StruXur. We’re looking forward to working with them on many projects this year.”
