Tell us about your role at Champion FiberglassⓇ.
I serve as Regional Sales Manager for the Northeast region. My role is to support our agents, develop relationships with new and existing clients, and find opportunities for growth. My previous experience as a rep allows me to understand the needs and difficulties of our clients, and what I can do from a factory level to best serve our agents and their customers.
Tell us about your background.
I started selling at 19 as an intern with Pennsylvania lighting control company, Lutron. New to selling, I was thrown in feet first and tasked with launching Lutron’s first LED dimmers to over a dozen Home Depot and Lowe’s locations across Philadelphia, Southern California, and Canada. This is where I learned to educate the customer, explaining new technology to store managers so they understood why the product should be featured prominently on their shelves.
My early sales experience continued in college, where I worked for a distributor to sell craft beer when it was new to the market. Here I also educated customers on why this new product was better than large scale breweries. I’ve been in various sales roles in the electrical industry, most recently with Synergy for nearly three years.
I give much credit to my father, and many other mentors, for my development as a salesman. From my mentors I learned the importance of relationship building, to never shy away from asking questions, and to always do the right thing even when it’s the harder choice.
What attracted you to the role at Champion Fiberglass?
Knowing that I represent a quality product from a top tier manufacturer with a team of great people gives me full confidence in what I’m selling. Conduit is largely considered a commodity product, but Champion differentiates by providing a solution that separates it from the traditional category. It’s exciting to share my passion for our products with customers of all stripes, and I enjoy the process of educating and informing the market about our innovations in conduit technology. Champion FIberglass makes unique products. I get excited about working with customers to bring innovative solutions to their projects and see the value they’ll get.
Steel and PVC conduit have been around a long time, so it’s rare to see new products in our industry. And even though the technology behind Champion Fiberglass products has been around for 50 years, the solutions are different and better.
How do you spend your time when not working?
Some of my favorite hobbies/activities include fishing, camping, and otherwise spending time in nature and off of my phone. I also play volleyball weekly in the summers, as well as play in a horseshoe league during the warmer months. My girlfriend and I are avid gardeners and share a passion for hot peppers of all varieties that we use to make sauces, add to meals/dishes or eat right off the plant.
What are you most excited about for this year?
Professionally, I’m excited about joining Champion and working with our agents in the Northeast. I look forward to building relationships with the agents, engaging with their clients, and working the region together as we continue to grow Champion’s presence.
Personally, I’m excited for the upcoming concert season, outdoor adventures, and the growth of my girlfriend’s catering career that she’s worked diligently on over the past year.
