Advance Electrical Agency is a rep firm based in Saskatoon in the Saskatchewan province of Canada. This agency focuses on select representation of manufacturers with a quality product and fair pricing who stand behind their product and help customers reach successful outcomes. The agency is led by President Darren Churchwell.

In 2020 they added team members to expand into Manitoba.

Over 100 Years Combined Experience Serving Saskatchewan and Manitoba

Together, the Advance team has over 100 years of experience in the electrical industry. The agency focuses on the commercial, industrial, mining and utility markets. They work closely with engineering and design firms to get an early understanding of the project scope and to provide information on the products best designed to meet project needs. They seek to involve wholesalers and contractors so everyone in the supply chain is informed. Advance Electrical Agency strives to do their best to help customers get projects completed on time and on budget without unexpected issues.

In Pursuit of Champion Fiberglass

Ten years ago, President Darren Churchwell reached out to Champion Fiberglass regarding representation in Saskatchewan. He had been working with consulting engineers on some larger industrial projects that necessitated a nonmetallic product for extensive use in the design. After traveling to Spring, Texas to meet President Goran Haag and the team and see their operations, it was evident Champion Fiberglass would be a nice addition to the Advance Electrical Agency line card. Champion Fiberglass management and staff knew their business and were keen to provide training and insight to help Advance Electrical Agency market successfully back home.

Mining and Bridge Success in Canada

One of Advance Electrical Agency’s first successes with Champion Fiberglass was a potash mine near Saskatoon. The contractor was seeking a fiberglass stand to be used at various locations. Potash is very corrosive, so nonmetallic Champion Duct SW provided an ideal solution. The project required an assortment of pieces, bends and short lengths for each stand. Then Champion Fiberglass and Advance Electrical Agency set up a local wholesaler with a package for each stand. Over 25 stands were supplied and delivered on-time. The Advance Team, as well as the contractor, were impressed with how quickly the design came together and how well it worked on site.

More recently, the agency has been working with a consulting engineering firm in Winnipeg considering Champion Duct for many upcoming bridge installations throughout northern Manitoba. Project challenges impacting design include high UV light, cold temperatures and the potential for flooding. Champion Fiberglass Regional Sales Manager Matt Fredericks joined every meeting with the consultant over 11 months and provided insightful information that helped move the project forward to meet specifications. Advance Electrical Agency recently received the first two orders of Champion Duct conduit and Champion Bridge Hangers for this project.

Partners in Canada

“We have had tremendous support from the Champion Fiberglass team,” says Churchwell. In fact, two individuals in particular have been the key to success — Inside Sales & Marketing Analyst David Szyszka and Regional Sales Manager Matt Fredericks, adds Churchwell. “David keeps us well informed about pricing and up to date on deliveries, while Matt has been great on Zoom meetings with engineers and designers and is also a great addition for sales calls,” explains Churchwell.  “Matt recently visited our rep in Winnipeg and there were some very positive meetings with good leads for upcoming business.”

Says National Sales Manager Scott Patchan, “We’ve enjoyed working with the Advance Electrical Agency team for ten years now. They’ve made impressive progress throughout the territory and we’re excited to see that continue.”
