Champion Fiberglass® recently received delivery of four new CNC lathes. The lathes are used to machine the ends of fiberglass elbows before bending, so that couplings can bond onto the elbows.
Previously, the process was accomplished with manual lathes. With the new CNC lathes, the elbow manufacturing process will be faster and of higher quality than before.
“We’re excited about the quality and productivity enhancements and the customer benefits these new lathes will provide,” President Goran Haag said.
The lathes are the latest addition of capital investments this year as Champion prioritizes leading-edge fiberglass machinery. A robotic gasket machine and Laguna Swift Router were added in February, and a plasma cutter and CNC milling machine were added in January.
