Seeking a durable, fireproof cable and conduit solution for a fire alarm or transit tunnel application? Radix Wire & Cable has been 2-hour, UL 2196 certified for use in Champion Fiberglass XW™ phenolic system conduit. This certification allows for a non-metallic solution where the use of metallic raceways are not desired.

Several years ago, UL learned of compatibility issues when classified fire-restrictive cables were used in conduit systems with zinc as an interior coating. At high temperatures, the zinc interacted with the copper conductor creating a brass alloy that melted at lower temperatures. This compromised the integrity of the electrical system.

Enter Champion Fiberglass conduit. Champion Fiberglass XW™ phenolic system conduit does not have the zinc compatibility issues as it contains zero smoke, zero halogen and high temperature physical properties that enable Radix Duralife II Dual Rated CI/CIC Cable to continue functioning during the UL2196 Cable Performance testing.
