Tell us about your role at Champion Fiberglass.

My position at Champion Fiberglass is Office Assistant and in that role I answer the phones and greet visitors to the office. In addition, I’m involved in the logistics of shipping our products around the country and across the border.

Tell us about your background.

I was born and raised just outside of London, England, near Heathrow Airport, where I worked for British Airways in passenger services for several years before moving to the U.S. Before coming to Champion Fiberglass, I worked at a large accounting firm in an administrative role, but after many years I got tired of the culture there and left the firm. I started at Champion Fiberglass as a temp in late 2016 and was offered a permanent position at the beginning of 2017.

Please comment on the electrical conduit market and the role of Champion Fiberglass in it.

I knew very little about the electrical conduit industry before coming to Champion Fiberglass, but since then I have learned what an essential industry it is. Almost every day I get calls from contractors who are interested in hearing about how our products could benefit their projects. It’s very exciting knowing that Champion Fiberglass is the leader in this growing industry.

What do you enjoy about working at Champion Fiberglass? Can you say something about the company mission, values and culture?

After working in a big corporate culture for so long, I really enjoy working with the great team of people we have here at Champion Fiberglass. It’s very close-knit and we all work hard together to get things done and manage to have some fun along the way.

How do you spend your time when not working?

When I’m not working, I spend time with my husband, at home or on the road. We have taken a number of cross country road trips together over the years and love every minute of it. We also enjoy going to concerts and shows together. I have recently taken up watercolor painting and am embracing the challenge of improving my artistic skills.

Tell us something people might not know about you.

When I worked for British Airways, I was lucky to meet quite a few celebrities, such as members of bands The Moody Blues and Yes, singer Debbie Harry and actors Michael Caine and Christopher Plummer, as they were checking in, or getting on or off planes. I still have a little book I kept at the time, in which I put autographs I had collected on scraps of paper and boarding passes. It brings back great memories when I go through it and see names of the pop stars and movie stars I met back in the day.
