What Are Utility Risers?

Utility risers are used to safely and efficiently deliver essential services, such as electrical lines, to a building or structure. Utility risers are used in both commercial and industrial settings, with varying voltage requirements, equipment specialization and levels of complexity required depending on the application.

Specifically, Champion Fiberglass Xpress Utility Risers are pre-fabricated elbows used in commercial and industrial buildings, utilities, data center, wastewater treatment and bridge projects. The risers are designed to take underground distributed power to the place of termination. Delivered in one piece, a contractor is able to quickly and efficiently connect the underground conduit to the riser and pull the cable through into the associated electrical panel, cabinet or meter box without the risk of burn-through. Power is then safely distributed into the building.

Why Fiberglass?

Light weight, corrosion resistance, dielectric strength, coefficient of friction and UV resistance make fiberglass (RTRC) conduit the best choice for utility risers. When highly conductive metal materials such as steel or aluminum are used the risk of electrical shock may become present during exposure to environmental elements or fault and degradation of the surrounding areas.

Additionally, the use of fiberglass eliminates the labor and material costs associated with wrapping GRC risers in costly non-corrosive tape.

Why Champion Fiberglass?
