Tell us about your role at Champion Fiberglass.
Here at Champion Fiberglass, I work as an Engineering Assistant. In my role, I assist with special projects dealing with our machine shop. I also have the pleasure of working with our sales team to help with sales drawings and producing some of the rendered parts for brochures.
Tell us about your background.
I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. As Houston is known as the energy capital of the world, my career started in oil and gas with The Shaw Group Inc. as a drafter working in 2D CAD. From there I moved on to Baker Hughes and expanded my resume to include 3D modeling and design. Next, I made my way to Stanley Black and Decker Oil and Gas division. With Stanley, I was able to work in the Innovation and Design department to refine my 3D design skills. Finally, I made it home, to my current position here at Champion Fiberglass.
Please comment on the electrical conduit market and the role of Champion Fiberglass in it.
Champion Fiberglass is the leader in the fiberglass conduit industry. Our fiberglass conduit gives our customers the strength of steel but with a weight that’s even lighter than PVC conduit. So it is no secret why we are lightyears ahead of our competition. In 2021, Champion Fiberglass will continue to widen the gap with innovative products.
What do you enjoy about working at Champion Fiberglass? Can you say something about the company mission, values and culture?
What I enjoy about working at Champion Fiberglass is the work environment. You have the feel of a small family-oriented business but with production and leadership that can rival a Fortune 500 company. The work atmosphere is one of the friendliest that I have had the pleasure of working in. Everyone’s attitude is, “What can we do to make the company better?” It is truly a blessing to work here.
How do you spend your time when not working?
During my time away from work, I enjoy being with my family and playing with my two boys. When the weather is nice, we take short road trips and take lots of pictures. I am always trying to learn new things, from new software to woodworking. I just love to learn new things.
Tell us something people might not know about you.
I am the oldest of seven. I have five sisters and one brother. I did not know what it was like to have my own bathroom until I went to college.
What are you most excited about for 2021, personally and/or professionally?
Professionally, I am looking forward to seeing what we can build upon from last year’s record year. Personally, I am just happy watching my boys grow up.
