Tell us about your role at Champion Fiberglass.

I work as an administrative assistant. My role requires wearing many different hats assisting with production, purchasing, accounts payable, shipping, and general office duties.

Tell us about your background.

I am a native Houstonian. I began my career in the mailroom of a well-known insurance company. I worked hard and climbed a 10-year ladder to become a facilities management printing operations supervisor. I decided to continue developing my career but wanted some diversity of skills so in 1999 I took a sales support position with Sprint PCS where I met my husband. Seven years, two children later with a baby on the way and another planned for the future to complete our six-pack, we decided that I would promote myself to being a full-time domestic engineer. Fifteen years later it was time to get back to the workplace and I am truly blessed that Champion Fiberglass was willing to give me this opportunity.

Please comment on the electrical conduit market and the role of Champion Fiberglass in it.

I started in January of 2020 with almost no knowledge of fiberglass conduit or what this year was going to bring. I have a great appreciation for the essential nature of the electrical conduit market. Even throughout a global pandemic, Champion Fiberglass has continued to provide world-class customer service, going above and beyond to deliver.

What do you enjoy about working at Champion Fiberglass? Can you say something about the company mission, values and culture?

I have always worked for large corporations where it is easy to feel like a statistic. Champion Fiberglass has a true family culture where we all lift each other up and work together to meet the needs of our customers as well as each other. I am truly blessed to be a part of the Champion Fiberglass family.

How do you spend your time when not working?

Time is such a precious commodity. My mom had some health issues in March of this year, and she was living by herself. We saw an opportunity to move her in with us to oversee her progress. She is very strong-willed and has made great improvements, but it has been priceless to have her here with us and watch her participate in her grandkid’s day-to-day activities. I have a house full of people that I love being around and truly enjoy their company.

Tell us something people might not know about you.

In 2002 my boyfriend won a sales award for a trip to Hawaii. He decided to take me as his plus one. To my amazement when we got there, he had a whole adventure planned where we went snorkeling, saw whales and sea turtles, and toured the waterfalls around the Big Island. When we were at Rainbow Falls, I turned around and he was on one knee. I said, “Get up. What are you doing?” He laughed and said, “I’m trying to ask you to marry me, silly.” I am going on twenty years of laughs and love with this guy.
