Summer break may be over – but as we all know, there are at least three more months of warm weather ahead for Houstonians. But school will soon be back in session, which means Champion Fiberglass is saying goodbye to another of our summer interns. Jacob Kjellman, from Stockholm, Sweden, is ready to return to his Master’s program. He talked with us a bit about what this summer has taught him.

Things are different in the real world.
Being on the factory floor has shown me that production isn’t as easy as it looks in my college textbooks.

Fiberglass conduit. There’s always more to learn.
This is a special product – before my internship, I wasn’t really aware of it. I think it’s fascinating that it’s possible to produce this kind of high-performance material from adhesives and fiberglass.

When the work is done, it’s time for fun.
I enjoyed so much about Houston and visiting San Antonio. Especially the food, although the portions here are a bit bigger than what I’m used to.

But for now, it’s back to the books.
I’m heading back to Sweden for one more semester of lectures. After that, I’ll write my Master’s thesis, and then I’ll be finished with my studies.

Life (and work) lessons from Goran.
One piece of Goran’s wisdom I’ll take with me throughout my career is “never assume.”

So long, Houston. For now, anyway.
I can see myself living and working in Houston in future. I’ve really enjoyed my time here. As to whether I’ll be back next summer for another internship, you should be interviewing Goran about that!

Thanks for all your hard work, Jacob. We know you’ll be studying hard as you work toward your Master’s degree, but don’t forget your friends here in sunny Houston. We certainly won’t forget you!
