Tell us about your role at Champion FiberglassⓇ. When did you start?
I started as an Engineering Assistant here at Champion Fiberglass in March of 2022. A major part of my role is overseeing the daily sales drawing requests. I work with the production team to ensure that the drawings we are sending to customers reflect our current methods and capabilities. I also provide support on in-house, large-scale sales and R&D projects when they are available.
Tell us about your background.
I was born and raised in Houston, Texas, growing up in the Cy-Fair area. I received my bachelor’s degree in design and technical graphics from the Art Institute of Houston in 2019. I have always had an interest in mechanical principles and industrial design. After college I worked with an electrical controls company developing my understanding of electrical systems. That role allowed me to build a connection with Champion Fiberglass as I worked on the team that ran the motor controls on the line three expansion project. Years later, I found myself on the engineering team here at Champion Fiberglass.
What attracted you to the role at Champion Fiberglass?
I was attracted to the size of the company. Larger companies tend to have a latency in finding information when you need it. Champion Fiberglass is unique in that I can seek out the information I need by just walking down the hall or out to the production floor. While we are a large company, there is an openness that allows us to share thoughts and explore opportunity with everyone, regardless of position.
How do you spend your time when not working?
Outside of the office I enjoy spending time relaxing with my friends and family. I enjoy watching football every Sunday and supporting the Astros during the MLB season. If I need to get away and clear my mind, I’ll find a quiet fishing spot early on Saturday morning. If the sun is out, I enjoy spending my days grilling and relaxing in a pool with friends.
Tell us something people might not know about you.
Over the years I have spent a lot of time designing and building furniture pieces with my dad. I am not too shabby at shooting pool as I became enamored with it after high school. I recently discovered I have an affinity for house plants…though I cannot seem to keep them alive in my apartment.
What are you most excited about for 2025, personally and/or professionally?
I think professionally I’m most excited to see a couple projects our team is working on reach the production stage. I always find satisfaction in seeing a project from start to finish, and these are set to make a significant impact on the company and the industry. Personally, I am always excited for a new year, you never know what is just around the next corner.
