About Chicago Sales Agency
Chicago Sales Agency is a manufacturer’s representative firm based in Chicago. As a firm, their specialty is mostly commercial and some industrial projects in Illinois. They represent quality manufacturers while focusing on building strong relationships with customers and their customers. At its core, the agency shares a passion for the customer and strives to deliver the very best service experience within the marketplace. Principal Michael Mahoney leads the agency.
A Strong Partnership in Selling Fiberglass Electrical Conduit
While Chicago Sales represents a number of manufacturers in the electrical industry, Michael Mahoney calls the partnership with Champion Fiberglass “one of the best we have with our manufacturers.”
For example, he says Champion Fiberglass is responsive and always available. Mahoney appreciates the open-door policy, explaining that he can call and get President Goran Haag on the phone if necessary. Moreover, the Champion Fiberglass team is expedient in quotes, response time, orders, and deliveries. “Champion gets it,” he adds.
When Chicago Sales took over the Champion Fiberglass account two and a half years ago, there was room for improvement as far as product awareness within the territory. So there was much educating to do among contractors and engineers. Contractors can be resistant to change, “But once they try fiberglass conduit, they recognize the value in it and will use it again. It’s been very gratifying to see the change,” states Mahoney.
Early Wins in Converting to Fiberglass Conduit
Early wins include success with fiberglass elbows for a project involving multiple highrise buildings in the city.
Another project involved a Home Depot distribution center. For this project, Chicago Sales was successful in converting the customer from PVC SCH 40 to fiberglass (RTRC) conduit. It was the gasketed couplings plus availability and price that helped win this project. In another conversion success story, a project switched from steel to fiberglass conduit in response to rising steel prices.
There are many types of electrical conduit pipe to choose from so staying top of mind is key in helping customers determine the right electrical conduit for the job. “It’s important to remind customers about the product by staying in touch with them and in front of them,” says Mahoney.
More Growth to Come
The Chicago Sales team is looking forward to educating more in the territory on the Champion Fiberglass product line and seeing a resulting uptick in sales.
Says Champion Sales Managers; Scott Patchan and Bob Reeger, “The Chicago Sales team has a wealth of industry experience. We value the education and expertise they provide in the field. They are making great strides for us in Illinois.”
